Boggy Creek is an AVID Showcase School, designed to engage the learners and provide them with the critical skills to become confident, independent thinkers and self-directed learners. Students learn to collaborate productively for learning and develop skills necessary to succeed in the 21st Century. Additionally, Boggy Creek is a Dual Language and Cultural Arts School that encourage students to develop a second language, embody creative thinking ,analyze, and appreciate visual art, literature, music, theater, and dance. Boggy Creek provides students with the skills necessary to enter a competitive international work force while inspiring them to appreciate specific activities that produce sensitivity in humanity. Students at Boggy Creek become bilingual, bi-literate and bicultural individuals equipped to navigate through a culturally diverse world.
Central Avenue Elementary School is a specialized choice program school with a community of lifelong learners committed to using effective and engaging instructional strategies in the classroom. Central Avenue provides an innovative opportunity for elementary students to increase science literacy by offering a Cyber-STEAM inspired Choice program. The Cyber-STEAM program offers a unique range of experiences that build students’ knowledge and understanding of a variety of facets in the STEM arena, including engagement with robotics drones, coding, eSports, and the media arts. STEM education creates critical thinkers, increases science literacy, and enables the next generation of innovators while creating pathways to high-tech, high-income jobs in STEM related careers. The Mill Creek Gators is a student-centered family of learners, working together to ensure every student is safe and has the best opportunity to succeed in our diverse community. Following its Environmental Management and Energy program, students engage in eco-friendly activities focused in understanding the structure and the functioning of the environment, the Earth, and how humans fit in. The goal is to inspire students to be conscientious about their background, reflect on their everyday actions and to develop the ability to make thoughtful decisions to create an environment that allows all to live the best quality life. The energy and environmental focus promote outdoor learning experiences, project-based enrichment opportunities and increases real-world connections while igniting the student’s innovative thinking skills.
The agriculture science program promotes a better understanding of the living environment, research, and training on the development of the agricultural productivity and farming. Students will study animals - their habits, their traits, and their roles in the environment. Learners become critical thinkers, make cross-curricular connections, and increase supplemental experiences while creating a positive and safe school environment to ensure that our students are successful academically and emotionally. The agri-animal science program allows students to have direct interaction with nature when growing and harvesting crops and raising and caring for animals as part of their curricular activities. Sunrise Elementary is harvesting the future zoologist and botanists of our community.
The teachers and staff at Ventura Elementary work diligently to promote a positive, student-centered learning environment, focusing on helping students grow academically, behaviorally, and socially. Lessons are focused on college and career readiness and designed to make learning hands-on, collaborative, and inquiry based. Ventura provides students the opportunity to prepare for college and career through our AVID program (Advancement Via Individual Determination) and become bilingual and bi-literate through our Dual Language Program. This school year, we are adding a Medical Science and Technology learning track so that all students, K-5, can learn about fitness, wellness, sports medicine, coding, cybersecurity, and robotics. Our goal is to foster a love for learning and guide students in preparing for college and careers.
